The Bucatini Carbonara at Sapori Trattoria is one of the best I've ever had!! The sauce was perfectly emulsified, bacon was crispy, and flavor was bold which is sometimes lacking in a carbonara. A must order dish every time!

If loving Sapori is wrong, I don't want to be right. I genuinely think about their carbonara at least 3–5 business days a week. This pasta is so offensively good that I become a completely different person when it arrives at the table. I'm talking full "I can't stop eating even though I'm painfully full" behavior. I NEVER finish restaurant portions anywhere else, but at Sapori? I will clean the plate, consider licking the bowl, and immediately start planning my next visit. The carbonara is hands down the sexiest pasta I've ever had in my life. Rich, creamy, perfectly balanced, and somehow consistently flawless every single time. And that's the thing about Sapori — it NEVER misses. The quality is always amazing, the staff is incredibly kind, the prices are actually reasonable, and the atmosphere feels like a warm hug from Italy itself. At this point, this restaurant has become part of my life lore. I've celebrated birthdays, holidays, random Tuesdays… honestly any excuse to go. I think I've spent the last four years measuring major life events by how close they were to a Sapori dinner reservation. Chicago has a lot of Italian restaurants, but Sapori is the one. If they ever discontinue the carbonara, I'll need to be put on a wellness check list.

While thoroughly impressed by the pasta & dessert, my table walked away talking about the clam appetizer at Sapori Trattoria. Served in a white wine sauce with a side of grilled bread, the fresh, savory clams were a highlight of the meal. Accompanied by calabrian chilis and pancetta, this aromatic appetizer made our first trip here special.

The calamari at Sapori Trattoria was the perfect way to start the meal. Lightly fried with a crisp golden coating, each bite was tender, fresh, and not greasy at all. The marinara added just the right amount of richness, while the lemon and pickled peppers gave it a bright, flavorful kick that kept you going back for more. The balance of texture and flavor was spot on, making it one of those appetizers that disappears from the table way too quickly. If you're dining at Sapori, the calamari is definitely a must-order. crispy, flavorful, and a great start to an authentic Italian meal.
